How to convert EPUB to PDF on Android

Google Play Books will happily display an EPUB you upload to it, which makes it look like the obvious tool. It has no export to PDF, though, and books uploaded to it live in your Google account rather than on the device — so you end up further from a local file, not closer.

Android also has no system handler for EPUB files, so tapping one in Files typically offers a list of apps rather than opening it.

   Locate the file

   Open Files (or My Files on Samsung devices) and look in Downloads. Books from Google Drive or Dropbox can be reached directly from the file picker in the next step.

   Open the converter

   In Chrome, go to the EPUB to PDF converter and tap Choose EPUB.

   Pick the file

   The Android picker can reach Downloads, Drive, and any other storage provider you have installed.

   Convert and download

   The PDF lands in Downloads. Chrome shows a notification, and any PDF viewer on the device will open it.

• Battery optimisation can suspend Chrome. For a large book, keep Chrome in the foreground until the upload completes.
• Data Saver can interfere with large uploads. Turn it off temporarily if uploads keep restarting.
• "Open with" instead of opening. Normal — nothing on Android claims EPUB by default.
• Books from a library app are DRM-protected and will not convert. See the DRM guide.

Android’s print dialog includes a "Save as PDF" destination, which works from any app that supports printing. As on the other platforms, the catch is that you first need an app willing to print an EPUB — and the result is a print of the screen layout, without a working table of contents.
